Help for death

When your hitpoints fall to zero or less, you are downed. While downed, you will slowly bleed out, losing hitpoints every 12 seconds. Once you reach -10 hitpoints, you will die.

While downed, you can still take limited actions:

crawl - Move to an adjacent room by using the normal movement commands (north, south, etc.). You will crawl instead of walk.
use - Use a potion or consumable from your backpack.
drink - Drink a potion from your backpack.
eat - Eat food from your backpack.
look - Look around the room.

Hostile creatures that downed you will watch over your body. They won't attack you further, but their presence prevents most actions. Crawl away to safety before using a healing potion to recover.

If another player is nearby, they can use the aid command to revive you.

If you heal above 0 hitpoints (via a potion or aid), you recover from the downed state and can act normally again.

Your Spirit Essence:

When you die, part of your experience is banked into a spirit essence at the spot where you fell. It holds your progress into your current level, up to half of what the level requires. You can never lose a level to death, and you keep all of your gear and gold.

Only you can see your essence. Return to where you died and type recover essence to get all of the banked experience back.

The essence fades after about a day and a half of real time. If you die again before recovering it, the new essence replaces the old one and the old experience is lost. New adventurers are protected and stake nothing.

Where You Wake Up:

You respawn at the nearest sanctuary. In wilder places, your spirit drifts into the Aetherdrift instead, where you follow the roots of Tathann back to the living world.

Ending It Yourself:

  suicide
Immediately end your own life, dying where you stand. This carries the same
death consequences as any other death, so use it with care.
