Help for crafting (common skill group)
The crafting skills cover creating, breaking down, and enhancing items. Each skill is learned independently. The more crafting skills you know, the more effective your enchantments become.
Skills:
Basic Crafting Craft simple work and common material lines at stations.
Intermediate Crafting Work the finer material lines and cook buff food.
Salvage Break gear down into raw materials.
Advanced Crafting Later mastery. Not yet taught anywhere.
Masterwork Later mastery. Not yet taught anywhere.
Crafting at Stations:
The craft command works at a crafting station. Forges take metal work.
Workbenches take wood and leather work. Kitchens cook. Crystalwright
benches set focuses. Nature shrines accept fetish work. A tattooist's
bench takes tattoo commissions.
Type craft at a station to see what it offers and what each working needs.
Type craft to craft one.
Gear work takes stock - ore for metal, timber for wood, hides for leather.
The stock you bring decides what is made. Iron stock makes iron work.
Name the stock to choose it, like craft longsword iron.
The poorest material you spend decides the quality of the result. Damaged
parts make battered work. Rich and pure stock from deep country makes fine
and superior work. Stash your best materials if you do not want them spent.
Some recipes are found, not taught. Carved notes and patterns recovered
from ruins teach their recipe when you use them.
Commissions:
Some work is ordered rather than made. A commission takes your materials
and fee, and the finished piece is ready after some days of game time.
Type craft collect at the same station to pick it up.
One order per craftsman. Tattoo work is always a commission.
Salvage:
Type salvage - to break gear down into a share of its materials.
It beats selling for scraps when what you need is stock, not coin.
Academy-issue gear cannot be salvaged.
Enchantment:
The enchant and scribe commands scale with how many crafting
skills you have learned. Enchanting takes at least two crafting skills,
and every attempt burns a spirit essence - grove sap, wisp residue, or
stronger. Better essences steady the work.
Warning: No item can be enchanted more than once.
Check the odds before enchanting: enchant chance
-
Each crafting skill learned reduces destruction chance by 10%.
Enchanted items have a 25% chance of becoming cursed.
